The following video tapes are available free of charge except for return postage and insurance. They may be borrowed by any interested group in New Jersey. Please refer to the instructions on the Information page.

VT-118 Learning to See (15 min.)
Briefly describes the anatomy of the eye and how vision begins as light entering the eye. It discusses visual perception, visual cues for size and distance, optical illusions and other things that affect the way we perceive what our eyes see.

LH-1 See for Yourself (15 min.)
Older adults frequently accept vision loss as a natural part of aging and assume that nothing can be done. But even if you are told your vision can't be corrected with eyeglasses, medicine or surgery, help is available that can enable you to be active and independent. This video will help you learn the warning signs of possible eye disease, understand the common eye conditions affection older people and discover what can be done if you have impaired or low vision.

LH-2 The World Through Their Eyes (22 min.)
Through the simulation of different types of vision loss and interviews with residents and healthcare providers, this video will help you understand the kinds of vision loss and their causes and implications. This video will also help you understand what low vision devices can or cannot do.

F-2 Eyes on the Road (25 min.)
Portrays the need for driver education, the aging process as effecting vision, visual requirements for licensing drivers, major causes of auto mishaps among teenage drivers and visual conditions which inhibit driving abilities- all demonstrating that "vision is the key" to safe driving.

AB-9 Optometry Cares (13 min.)
A documentary walk through modern optometry and an engaging introduction to the dedicated men and women who practice this primary healthcare profession. Stresses the "person caring" as well as the clinical skill and training of today's Optometric physicians.

AB-10 A Gift of Sight (18 min.)
An introduction to Optometric low vision care centers around a musician with macular degeneration and how Optometric low vision care helps her. Low-vision is explained as well as the various conditions and diseases that can cause it. This video details the elements of a thorough optometric examination and the low vision aids and other treatment available to help low vision patients cope with their condition and maintain independent and productive lives.

AB-11 Seymour Safely (The Movie) (10 min.)
Visit with Seymour Safely and the robot VUBOT that includes information geared for children concerning eye safety, and optometric examination, how the eye works and wearing glasses. Excellent animation makes for high interest and excitement.

AB-12 Rites of Sight (17 min.)
An exploration of vision during the second 50 years of life. This warm and human documentary, narrated by Bob Nichols, defines many age-related vision conditions, natural changes in vision and the way optometric care can help older people live independent lives.

AB-13 Contact Lenses: Eye Care - Not Eye Wear (15 min)
This video focuses on the importance of quality optometric care for successful contact lens wear. Discusses eye health, a thorough examination, proper fitting, the right lenses, patient compliance and why regular follow-up care is necessary and successful lens wear. This is an entertaining presentation with a serious message for all present and potential contact lens wearers.

AB-14 Focus on Vision (17 min)
Hosted and narrated by the nature TV series star George Page, this video is a presentation on vision therapy through the actual experiences of several real-lfe patients. Includes interviews with basketball player Kiki Vanderweghe, a nurse, an occupations therapist, a mother, a pediatrician and several optometrists who explain how top their can help people of all ages improve. Recommended for all vision therapy patients.

AB-17 For the Sake of Your Eyes (10 min)
A documentary introduction to primary optometric eye care. Looks at optometric care through the experiences of many typical optometric patients, from infants to older adults, who have different interests, occupations,and eye care needs. This "eye opening" video stresses the vital role optometrists play in maintaining good vision and eye health.

AB-18 A Journey Through Your Eyes (7 min)
This video explores the eye. How it works, common vision conditions and how they can be corrected. Features exciting 2-D and 3-D animation. A teacher's curriculum guide accompanies the video. While the program was designed for elementary grades, the video and portions of the print are also appropriate for teens and older adults.

SCO-1 Is your future in sight? (14 min)
Targets high school students who are interested in an optometric career. It introduces the differences between optician, optometrists and ophthalmologists as well as the areas of optometric specialties (i.e.: vision training, low vision, pediatric and geriatric care). Also touches upon the advantages of pursuing an optometric career.

VT-232 You and Your Eyes (15 min)
Presented by Walt Disney Educational production, Jiminy cricket, explains the function o f the eye to Kristin and Jason who are in the school library researching the eye for a report. Jiminy reveals valuable and important reasons to take care of the eyes. This video is designed to supplement as a teaching aid for health and science classes.

VT-179 The Eye: An inside story (10 min)
This video names the parts of the eye and describes the positions and functions of each. It explains what happens to vision when the eyes are exposed to different environments such as dark to light and visa versa. Common vision conditions such as near and far sightedness are discussed as well as some of the devices used to correct vision. This video is recommended for grades 7 through 12.

XVL-100 Vision and Learning (10 min)
This video is designed for use with educators and parents at in-service programs, parent meetings or as an in-office educational tool. The unique services available through behavioral optometrists are explained as well as the signs of symptoms of learning - related visual problems. Several vision training techniques are also explained.

VT-200 Your Vision and Video Display Terminals (14 min)
This video addresses hard-hitting solutions to problems associated with today's computer designed offices as they relate to stress and productivity. Topics include vision associated with lighting, ergonomics, and multi-focal lens applications in real office ergonomics. Designed for use by both doctor and patient.
